Posters of Honeypreet Insan were pasted at police stations bordering Nepal and the law and order machinery was put on high alert.
It is a major breakthrough for police and authorities searching for Honeypreet, close aide of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who was jailed for 20 years for raping sadhvis. In a big development, Honeypreet Insan’s mobile phone has been traced to Barmer district in Rajasthan, according to Times Now. Reportedly, call was made from Honeypreet Insan’s mobile to top management of Dera Sacha Sauda, the news channel reported on Tuesday. The major breakthrough comes several days after a lookout notice was issued against Ram Rahim’s close confidante Honeypreet. However, still there is no clue of her whereabouts.
On Monday, in a bid to ensure her arrest, posters of Honeypreet Insan were pasted at police stations bordering Nepal and the law and order machinery was put on high alert. The police stations of Kapilvastu, Mohana, Shohratgarh and Debarua, whose areas border Nepal, have been alerted, Superintendent of Police (SP), Siddharth Nagar, Satyendra Kumar said. Honeypreet’s photographs have been pasted at these police stations. The intelligence mechanism has also been put into service to keep an eye on the activities of those crossing the Indian territory, he said.
The Haryana police had on September 1 issued a lookout notice against Honeypreet.
Honeypreet is the adopted daughter of Ram Rahim Singh whose conviction in a rape case triggered mob violence that killed around 40 people across Haryana. She had accompanied the Dera head when he was brought to the special CBI court in Panchkula for the pronouncement of the verdict in the 15-year-old rape case. She also travelled along with him in a special chopper which ferried them to Rohtak from Panchkula after the conviction.
