Iran terror attacks: Twin terror attacks today struck Iranian parliament and the shrine of country’s revolutionary founder Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in Tehran. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for both the attacks in Tehran, as per agency reports. A second suicide bomber detonated explosives outside the shrine. Earlier a woman had earlier blown herself up outside the site. Another attack was carried out on the parliamentary complex. It has been learned that siege is underway at Parliament. A session was in progress when the armed men barged into the building. Iran’s state TV reported that attackers were carrying Kalashnikov assault rifles. Iran’s Interior Ministry had called for an urgent security meeting following the attacks. While today’s attacks are a first by a terror group in Iran, there were a series of such strikes that took place around the world that snatched away a number innocent people’s lives.

June 4, 2017: London attack
Eight-minute-long terror attacks at the two key London landmarks had shaken UK a few days ago. Three knife-wielding attackers wearing fake suicide vests unleashed a terror rampage through central London, plowing a van into pedestrians on the iconic London Bridge and then running to a nearby market where they randomly stabbed multiple people. Six people were killed and 48 were injured in the attacks. This came just days before the general elections on June 8.
May 22, 2017: Ariana Grande concert in Manchester in England
Last month, 22 people were killed and 116 injured after a suicide bomber targeted a Manchester concert.
April 20, 2017: Champs Elysees attack in Paris
An armed man had opened fire at a parked police van, killing the officer inside. He then started shooting at others standing on the nearby sidewalk, injuring two before he was shot dead by police. In total, more than 230 people have died in attacks across France in the past two-and-a-half years, most of them claimed by Islamic State.

April 7, 2017: Stockholm truck attack
Five people lost their lives after a brutal truck attack in Stockholm. A truck careened down a busy street in central Stockholm and mowed down shoppers before crashing into a department store, according to Reuters report.

April 3, 2017: Saint Petersburg bombing
16 people were killed a suicide bombing attack struck metro in the Russian city of St. Petersburg. A group called the Imam Shamil Battalion has claimed responsibility for the attack saying that the bomber was acting on orders from al Qaeda.
March 22, 2017: Westminster Bridge attack
Five people were killed and about 40 injured in London after a car ploughed into pedestrians and a suspected Islamist-inspired attacker stabbed a policeman close to Britain’s parliament. Islamic State had later claimed the responsibility for the attack.
