Indian Army recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition in the Machhil sector of Kashmir on Wednesday, reported ANI. Indian Army Brigade Commander RK Suresh while talking about the Machhil operations said that an operation was launched to eliminate five terrorists who took advantage of dense foliage. He added that huge quantity of arms and ammunition, ration, and medicines with Pakistani markings were recovered and the operation was successful. Meanwhile, another encounter broke out in Pulwama district in Kashmir on Wednesday. According to a report by PTI, a police official said that an encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Pulwama. The official added security forces had launched a search operation in Gulab Bagh area of Tral in Pulwama after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the district. He went on to say that as the search was being conducted by the forces, the hiding militants fired upon them. The security forces retaliated, leading to an encounter. According to a report by ANI, three terrorists of Zakir Musa’s Ansar Ghazwat ul-Hind were killed by security forces in Pulwama’s Tral.

Earlier, on August 6, a joint team of the Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition which included two AK assault rifles and explosives during an operation in Rajouri, PTI reported. The security personnel during the ‘Operational Clean-up’, searched the hills and caves in the Rajouri-Reasi belt with the help of sniffer dogs. A senior Army officer said that a joint team of the Rashtriya Rifles and police has managed to seize a cache of arms, including one AK-47 rifle, one AK 56 rifle, a Chinese pistol, two RPG rounds, five hand grenades, two magazines and 639 rounds of ammunition in the Kalakote area of the district.
