Police recovered the body of Sharath, the son of an Income-Tax department officer in Bengaluru on Friday morning. Sharath, who was kidnapped last week, was murdered, as per the media reports. The 19-year-old boy who was a diploma student was abducted on September 12 by a gang. The kidnappers had sent a WhatsApp video message to Sharath’s family demanding Rs 50 lakh as ransom. According to a video by Times Now, Sharath said that someone who suffered because of his father, was behind the kidnapping. He also said that he had been tortured and requested his parents to arrange for the ransom money soon.
According to a report by India Today, Sharath had left his house at Ullal on his new motorbike at 6.30 pm on September 12. he was reportedly going to meet his friends but didn’t return home for the next few years. As the family got a bit worried, they approached the police and got a case registered.
“The boy’s mother called him many times but the calls went unanswered. Today, his parents and sister received a WhatsApp video from his mobile phone, in which the boy is seen asking them to arrange Rs 50 lakh towards his ransom,” a police officer associated with the investigation was quoted saying in the report.

Police is suspecting the hand of one his relatives named Vishal and his accomplices. The body was dumped at Rachenahalli lake near Kengeri suburb. A few days after the murder, the body was found floating in the lake. It was taken by the locals then. According to a report by Times Now, six people have already been arrested in relation to the case.
