Popular Pakistani actress Saba Qamar, recently seen opposite Irrfan Khan in the critically acclaimed ‘Hindi Medium’, has opened up about the humiliation she faces at international airports for her nationality. In a video that has no gone viral on the internet, Saba talks about the tough frisking at international airports and the suspicion with which she is looked at by authorities just for being a Pakistani.

In the 49-second video, the teary-eyed actress is seen narrating a specific incident when she had visited the Georgian capital Tbilisi for a project. “This mantle of being a Pakistani that we hold so high comes crashing down once we go abroad. When we went to Tbilisi to shoot for a film, all the Indian crew was allowed to go, but I was stopped. It was because of my passport. I was from Pakistan. They did a full investigation. They let me go only after an interview,” she said.

“It was on that day that I realised our honour and our position. Where do we stand?” she added.

Saba Qamar is a known face in Pakistan’s film industry and recently won critical acclaim for her role in ‘Hindi Medium’. She has previously featured in other Bollywood projects such as Udaan, Baaghi Jinnah Ke Naam and Aina.

The video that shows Saba narrating her ordeal was shared by Sabah Alam. “It’s not just #SabaQamar who feels humiliated. All #Pakistanis feel humiliated when we are considered a terrorist state, when our children are killed like flies & we can’t get justice for them, when terrorist like #HafizSaeed roam around freely & we watch them helplessly (sic),” she wrote on Twitter along with the video post.
