Akhilesh said people have lost lives from almost every state but no one was martyred from Gujarat
In a highly insensitive comment, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi party leader Akhilesh Yadav gave a political angle to the sacrifice of jawans who have lost their lives in recent events. While speaking to news agency ANI, Akhilesh said people have lost lives from almost every state but no one was martyred from Gujarat. “UP, Madhya Pradesh, Dakshin Bharat har jagah se shaheed huye hain, Gujarat ka koi jawan shaheed hua ho toh batao (Jawans from UP, Madhya Pradesh, South India and other parts of the country have lost their lives but tell me whether anyone has been martyred from Gujarat),” he was quoted saying by news agency ANI.

Akhilesh was in the news earlier when his father and founder of the Samajwadi Party on Sunday said that it was his mistake not to become the chief minister when the party won in 2012 assembly elections, reported news agency ANI. “Meri galti thi, humen hi banna chahiye that mukhyamantri, to aaj ye sthiti paida nahi hoti (It is my mistake, I should have become the chief minister then this situation would not have arisen),” he was quoted as saying by the agency.
Recently, Pakistan has violated ceasefire many times. Yesterday, Union Minister Hansraj Ahir appreciated Iran’s warning to Pakistan by saying, “The real image of Pakistan is coming out before the world. I appreciate Iran’s warning that it will strike at terrorist hideouts in Pakistan, which proves our point that such hideouts exist there.” His comments came at an event in the presence of Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. “We are responding to each and every provocation by Pakistan along the border. It is a weak nation,” he said.
