Filmmaker Shirish Kunder, husband of choreographer and film director Farah Khan, hit out at the decision of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to appoint its Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath as the new chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Though Kunder did not name Yogi Adityanath, his post all but revealed who the target of his Twitter post on Tuesday was. He tweeted, “going by the logic of making a goon as CM so that he behaves, Dawood (Ibrahim) can be CBI Director and (Vijay) Mallya – RBI Governor.” His tweet clearly targetted Yogi Adityanath who on Sunday (March 19) took oath as the CM of UP in the presence of top leaders of the party and the state including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah along with former CMs of UP, Akhilesh Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Yogi Adityanath is the five times MP from Gorakhpur and remained in spotlight because of his inflammatory statements given from time to time. When the BJP won a heavy mandate in the state, his name came to the top for the post of state’s CM along with Rajnath Singh, Keshav Prasad Maurya, and Manoj Sinha. But leaving behind everyone, he gained the trust of party think tank and it entrusted him with the responsibility. The move was heavily criticised and his ability to take up the responsibility questioned by many. However, now Bollywood has also been included in it with Shirish posting tweets too.

Shirish did not stop with just one tweet on the issue and further compared Yogi Adityanath’s previous work with “rape”. Shirish, on his Twitter post said that “Hoping a goon will stop rioting once he’s allowed to rule is like expecting a rapist to stop raping once he’s allowed to rape.” In few hours after the tweets, Shirish received hundreds of reactions in his support and also against him.

On this, Shirish wrote that “If you block their nose, they will breathe from the mouth. Doesn’t mean they are enjoying it.”
