A person, who was visiting Rahul Gandhi’s Mirzapur Khata Sabha on Wednesday had a huge reason for disappointment-he couldn’t find a Khaat (cot) to take home. The middle-aged man, who attended the entire rally addressed by Congress vice-president expecting to get a Khaat in return, vent out his frustration on camera. The person, with a Congress flag in hand, said that he was told that he will receive a Khaat after the rally gets over. However, he didn’t get anything. “I were told that I’ll receive a Khaat after the rally, but I didn’t get it, all they gave me is this Congress flag,” said the disgruntled man. When asked if he attended the rally to hear the speech or to receive the khaat, he said, “for both.”
“Bhashan bhi sunne aaye the.. Khaat bhi lene aaye the, par Kahi kuch nahi mila, ye log bus Jhanda dekar chale gaye (I came here for both, Khaat and Speech, but didn’t get the Khaat,” says the man in the video tweeted by ANI. The stringed wooden beds or cots, locally known as khats in Uttar Pradesh, have been making news for Rahul Gandhi ever since he started travelling through the poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.

On previous occasions, when Rahul Gandhi addressed ‘Khaat Sabhas’ at Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar and Deoria, farmers took away Khats with them after the rally ended. Congress vice-president had launched his Deoria-to-Delhi Kisan Yatra on September 6, and his party workers were initially left struggling with locals who jostled over the cots.
