‘Jungle raj is back in Bihar’ chorus seems to be getting louder. Controversies emerged when pictures of Mohammad kaif, a dreaded criminal, a sharp shooter and accused in the murder case of journalist Rajdeo Ranjan started rolling in the general media with Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son Tej Pratap Yadav. Now, Kaif has given an interview to an English channel claiming he has been “framed” and there is a “political conspiracy” to “malign” his character. Saying that his father is an innocent person, Kaif has showered praise on Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav who is currently the health minister of the state.
Clearly feeling the heat following extensive media coverage on the issue, Kaif has defended himself saying that people and journalists of Siwan are aware that he is “not a criminal”. He also said that he will seek his lawyer’s advice and proceed accordingly, a report said.
On being asked why he was seen with Shahabuddin, Kaif he replied cautiously. “I went as a supporter, I had even asked my lawyer for advice before I went there,” the report quoted him as saying.
Speaking in a candid manner, Kaif said journalist Rajdeo Ranjan had good relations with him and the latter was also present at his wedding.
Meanwhile, on being questioned by the media, Tej Pratap said that it is impossible to remember everyone who takes picture with him. It is now widely speculated that the opposition in Bihar might demand the resignation of the health minister and subsequently his sacking from party posts.
Bihar Police was in search of this hardened criminal who is charged with the murder of journalist Rajdeo Ranjan of hindi daily Hindustan. The matter becomes more interesting when it is revealed that the slain journalist Rajdeo Ranjan two years back had published a story based on intelligence reports that Mohammad Shahabuddin had prepared a hit list of 23 people to be eliminated in which he himself was at number 7.
