Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced plans to name several Hyderabad’s roads after major corporate firms, like Google, Meta, TCS or Infosys, instead of political leaders.

Addressing the annual conclave of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum in Delhi on Thursday, he made a strong pitch for global investments in Telangana’s urban development projects, including Bharat Future City, Musi river rejuvenation, Regional Ring Road, Radial Roads, and a proposed dry port.

“Bharat Future City will be India’s most developed, world-class city, in 30,000 acres. After rejuvenation, the Musi riverfront will match the experience of London, Tokyo, Dubai or Seoul. It will add a night economy cycle for the city,” IANS reported him as saying.

Reddy also presented his ambitious ‘TelanganaRising 2047’ vision, seeking to build a $1 trillion state economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047.

“We are the gateway to entire Indian market, and major destination for Global Capability Centres. Come and invest in my state,” Reddy told the participants at the conclave.

‘Harvard, Oxford should set up campuses in Hyderabad’

Reddy also invited top educational institutions to invest in Hyderabad and set up their campuses in the city.

“Once Harvard, Stanford or Oxford sets up an offshore campus in Hyderabad, many students from the Global South can attend these ivy league programs because of easier visa rules and lower costs,” he further said.

Reddy lauded by industry leaders

His plans appeared to find favour among industry leaders, with many dubbing it an ‘achievable’ target.

“The Chief Minister’s explanation of these game-changer projects and their social impact was deeply impressive,” Former Cisco CEO John Chambers said.

USISPF president and CEO Dr Mukesh Aghi also appreciated the state’s development roadmap and announced that several members of the forum would participate in the TelanganaRising Global Summit.

“We look forward to witnessing the comprehensive vision for Telangana unveiled by the Chief Minister,” he said.
