Hyderabad rains Live Updates: The capital city was hit by a cloudburst at night and thereafter lashed by heavy rain that lasted for up to five hours and it went on to claim 3 innocent lives. According to agency reports, heavy downpour, accompanied by thunderstorm inundated low-lying areas and threw normal life out of gear. The thunderstorm brought the traffic to a grinding halt during the peak hours. Officials said it was a cloudburst over the city as some areas recorded 7 cm to 12 cm rainfall. Two persons including a child were killed and two injured in a wall collapse in Singadikunta area in Banjara Hills. One person died of electrocution in Hussaini Alam in the old city. According to NDTV, earlier this morning, trees were uprooted at three places and at least six areas were reportedly waterlogged. Authorities have asked residents to avoid localities like Begumpet, Mojamhahi market, and the Narayanaguda-Liberty route.

7:02 pm: Chief Minister K.A Chandrasekhar Rao reviewed the situation with officials. He directed the authorities to remain on high alert and launch relief operations in the inundated areas, as per IE report.

6:30 pm: As per Skymet, Weather Hyderabad recorded heavy rain of 83 mm, Greater Hyderabad 132 mm.

6:03 pm: Authorities have asked residents to avoid localities like Begumpet, Mojamhahi market, and the Narayanaguda-Liberty route. Civic officials are clearing the roads.

5:45 pm: As per Indian Express report, people returning home from workplaces were caught in long traffic snarls. Techies were stranded in the traffic jam in Madhapur, which houses many software giants. With water levels rising sharply at few places, people stranded in cars had to be rescued.

5:32 pm: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation said its personnel have been working to drain out rainwater that had accumulated on the roads as soon as possible, as per NDTV report.

5:18 pm: Though there has been some respite with no rain this morning, the Met department said the city is likely to witness rainfall today as well, reported NDTV.

5:00 pm: Telangana CM Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao had yesterday instructed administrative machinery to be on high alert in view of heavy rains in Hyderabad.

4:48 pm: According to Hyderabad met office, the heavy downpour was caused by thunderstorm activity resulting from upper air circulation lying over Rayalaseema and upper air trough running from Odisha to Kerala across Telangana, as per IANS report.

4:30 pm: A four-month-old boy and his father were among three persons killed in rain-related incidents in the city lashed by heavy rain Monday evening. All schools and colleges will remain shut on Tuesday as more downpour is expected, as per PTI report.
