HS Ranauta inducted as 16th grand master of Grand Lodge of India

It is said that nobility of character needs to be trusted more than an oath and yes the Masons or the members of the Grand Lodge of India, a fraternal organisation has definitely put more trust on Harcharan Singh Ranauta who was installed as the new grand master of the organisation on Saturday.

Ranauta, the chairman of Chandigarh-based Ranauta Group of Industries, keeps shuffling between Chandigarh and Nairobi every month. He was born in Nairobi and later moved to India. He has been elected as the new grand master for a period of three years.

Ranauta while speaking to ANI after the oath-taking ceremony said the main objective of the Grand Lodge of India is education for the girl child.

“We have asked the government to give us many government colleges and we would like to take care of those colleges and government schools for the education of the girl child,” Ranuata said.

“We also believe in each one bring one, which means we want to expand this fraternal organisation. It is our desire that Grand Lodge of India should be the number one Grand Lodge of the world and god willing, I can assure that this Grand Lodge will be number one in the world,” he said.

Former district grand master of Scottish constitution in Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, Daljeet Singh told ANI that freemasonry is an international organisation which teaches the principles of fraternity, kindness and good values.

“Freemasonry is an international organisation. It’s all over the world. In Malaysia, we have lodges under different constitution, under Grand Lodge of Scotland, Grand Lodge of Ireland and Grand Lodge of England. Today it’s a great honour for us to witness the installation of the new grand master of the grand lodge of India. Harcharan Singh is a dynamic person,” Singh said.

“Freemasonry is a wonderful organisation which teaches to you to be charitable, to be kind to people and also to be a better man and practise good values in life. This is what we teach people, fraternity is our principle,” he added.

The Grand Lodge of India (GLI) is the main governing body of Freemasonry within India, it was officially constituted on November, 24, 1961.

There were three delegations from the Grand Lodge of Scotland, Grand Lodge of Ireland and Grand Lodge of England in that order.
