2G Scam Verdict: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has reacted to the latest verdict in 2G spectrum allocation scam case. The former prime minister, under whose rule the alleged scam took place, has said that ‘propaganda’ against his government has been put to rest. “We respect the court’s judgement. Court has unambiguously put to rest the propaganda against UPA,” Manmohan Singh said. Singh’s government had come under sharp criticism and faced the country’s wrath for the alleged scam in 2014 General Elections. Anna Hazare, the social activist who had run a countrywide protest against UPA’s alleged misdeeds has also issued a calculated reaction on the verdict. “If the Government has concrete evidence, then they should take the matter to a higher court,” Hazare said. While former Congress MP Kapil Sibal has said that there was no scam. “Aaj meri baat siddh ho gayi, koi corruption nahi, koi loss nahi. Agar scam hai to jhooth ka scam hai, vipaksh aur Vinod Rai ke jhooth ka. Vinod Rai ko desh ke saamne maafi maangni chahiye, (My stand has been proven today, no corruption, no loss. If there was a scam then it was one of lies, opposition and Vinod Rai’s lies,” Sibal said.
P Chidambaram, former finance minister, also reacted on the verdict, he said, “Allegation of a major scam involving the highest levels of Government was never true, was not correct and that has been established today.”
“Clearly, the Court found that innocent people have been wronged. Justice has worked as it is supposed to work in our country,” Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said.
