With no trace of Honeypreet Insan even after two weeks after her alleged disappearance following 20 years imprisonment of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in two rape cases, the police stations and intelligence unit in border areas near Nepal border have been put on alert, following Haryana Police information that she may try to flee to Nepal, ANI said. “Police stations in the border area and Intelligence Unit have been put on alert. Asked them to be in plain clothes and look out for her”, Siddharthnagar Superintendent of Police Satyendra Kumar was quoted as saying by the agency.
According to the PTI report, photos of Honeypreet Insan have been pasted at police stations bordering Nepal. The law and order machinery has also been put on high alert so that she does not sneak into the neighbouring country. The police is also on alert in Lakhimpur, Maharajganj, and Bahraich districts of Uttar Pradesh, which borders Nepal, another official said, as per the agency.
The Haryana Police had issued a showcause notice against Honeypreet on September 1. Its officials had also visited Lakhimpur Kheri in search of Honeypreet, PTI added. An official said that the Haryana Police had shared some information with the Gaurifanta police and also inquired about her suspected movement towards the neighbouring country through India-Nepal border. “However, when no clue about Honeypreet’s departure for Nepal could be gathered, the Haryana police personnel returned,” the ASP was quoted as saying by PTI. He further said that an unclaimed vehicle with the registration number of Punjab was seized from the border and the investigation is on to find out its owner.
