Home Minister Rajnath Singh commends NIA role in curbing stone pelting, terror funding in Kashmir

''Fake currency plays a very important role fuelling terrorism and Naxalism, the NIA is investigating the cases of terror funding and is curbing this menace,'' Rajnath added as per ANI.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh while addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the National Investigation Authority’s (NIA) Lucknow office building praised the premier terror investigation agency for the role it has played since its inception. The Home Minister in his speech also credited the NIA for the decrease in cases of stone pelting in Jammu and Kashmir. ”Those involved in terror funding are afraid of the NIA. After the action taken by the agency recently, stone pelting incidents have come down in the Kashmir Valley,” the Home Minister was quoted as saying by ANI.

Singh also praised NIA for its role in curbing the menace of fake currency and for investigating terror funding cases.”Fake currency plays a very important role fuelling terrorism and Naxalism, the NIA is investigating the cases of terror funding and is curbing this menace,” Rajnath added as per ANI.

While speaking at the event, Rajnath Singh commended the agency for its exemplary conviction rate. ”The NIA has a conviction rate of 95 percent, this is a first for any agency in the country. The agency has emerged as a credible agency since it was conceived in 2009,” he said. Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also spoke at the event.
Recently the NIA had arrested Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Ahmad Shah Watali after conducting 10 simultaneous raids in various parts of the state. Watali was arrested for funding of terrorist and separatist organisations in Jammu and Kashmir, according to an Indian Express report.
