In yet another hard-hitting response to the media in the wake of being trolled by former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and others like Minister of State (MoS) Home Kiren Rijiju on social media and elsewhere, Kargil martyr’s daughter Gurmehar Kaur, 20, said that, “I am heartbroken, these are the people you yell for in matches and they troll you at the expense of your father’s death.” And responding to the allegations about being manipulated by others, Kaur said, “I have my own mind, nobody is polluting my mind. I am not anti-national.”

The Delhi University student further made it clearto her dtractors that her protest against the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is not on the grounds of ideology but on what actually happened in the DU campus last week. Clearing the air about her social media campaign against the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in the wake of last Wednesday’s violence at Delhi University’s Ramjas College, Lady Sri Ram College student Kaur said Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Umar Khalid was not even present when the incident took place.

“Stones were not pelted on Umar Khalid (the JNU student, who had been invited to Delhi University event, which the ABVP objected to). He was not even present there. The stones were pelted on students who were there. Violence took place as it was opposed to the invitation extended to JNU student Umar Khalid,” she said.

Gurmehar Kaur took her objection to the ABVP-led agitation further on Monday by lodging a complaint with the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), alleging that she had been threatened with rape on social media. In the complaint to DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal, the daughter of Kargil braveheart, Captain Mandeep Singh said threats to her life and outraging her modesty were made on social media. Maliwal said she had been provided with proof of the same and added that the DCW would take appropriate remedial action with the help of the police.

Kaur, who had launched a social media campaign titled ‘I’m not afraid of ABVP’, was trolled by actor Randeep Hooda, former cricketer Virendra Sehwag and Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju.
