Gurgaon, or Gurugram’s, massive traffic jam and water logging, caused due to incessant rain in the millennium city has drawn massive flak not only from the commuters and the city dwellers, but also political parties, with AAP and Congress lashing out at the BJP state government in Haryana. The traffic snarls, which started yesterday, led to people being stuck for over five to seven hours. Even at the time of writing this article, massive rains in Gurgaon have flooded roads, with drains being blocked, and cars struggling to make their way amidst water logged roads. Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar has come under severe criticism from all corners, and both Congress and AAP have lashed out at the BJP government for “poor planning”.

Delhi’s deputy CM Manish Sisodia took to Twitter to target the Haryana government, and even mocked the recent renaming of the city to Gurugram. “Renaming Gurgaon to Gurugram will not ensure development. Policy formulation and subsequent implementation of these policies is important for development,” he said. “Jumalon se jam nahi khulega,” Sisodia mocked. AAP leader Ashutosh tweeted, “Monster Traffic jam in Gurgaon because there is an incompetent CM in Haryana. There is a corrupt govt; because there is Khattar.”

Congress, whose government preceded that of BJP’s in Haryana also took this opportunity to hit out at Khattar. “#16HoursOfGurgaonJam! Blame game & mudslinging continues between @mlkhattar & @ArvindKejriwal as people suffer. Wake up, accept responsibility,” tweeted Randeep Surjewala. “BJP only seeks to change the name of Gurgaon. But what Gurgaon needs is more road lanes, Mr Khattar! Cut out lame games. #16HoursOfJam,” he said, adding, “The shambolic #16HoursOfJam in Gurgaon is @mlkhattar’s launch of #BrakeInHaryana?”.

In a strong attack on the BJP government, Surjewala added, “Quicker to reach New York from Delhi then Delhi-Gurgaon. BJP & @mlkhattar Govt. destroying Gurgaon as India’s global hub. #16HoursOfJam”.
