Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday paid his last respects to late Superintendent of Police Baljeet Singh, who lost his life in the Gurdaspur terror attack.

“Baljeet Singh is a martyr of the nation and Punjab. The entire state salutes him for the courage and valour he has shown,” said Badal.

Badal reached Punjab’s Kapurthala district earlier today to meet Singh’s family members.

Singh’s family had earlier refused to cremate him till the state government handed over appointment letters of SP rank to his son and post of tehsildar to his daughters.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had earlier said that the terrorists involved in the Gurdaspur terror attack, which has claimed the lives of several civilians and police personnel, are linked to terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.
