Yogi Adityanath would be the star campaigner in the 2018 or late 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections, according to the Ahmedabad Mirror's sources said. Adityanath's name was favourited in a party meeting\u00a0on Monday where BJP MLAs, civic body chiefs and district representatives met with State BJP president Jitu Vaghani. Though Narendra Modi and Amit Shah will also be the forerunners, but after recognising Adityanath's popularity as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister where people have hailed him, singing 'har har Yogi'. The BJP has seen his potential and also visualised him as an alternative for Modi in future. BJP has started preparing itself for the all the upcoming state elections. This time the party is eyeing 150 seats in the Gujarat state. They have their MLAs on 35 seats out of 180 and the BJP is setting its eyes on 150 seats at least this time. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Vaghani\u00a0said, \u201cAfter the victory in UP elections where we gathered more than 300 seats, BJP has set a target of 150 seats in Gujarat. UP CM Adityanath will one of the star campaigners of the party.\u201d The Bharatiya Janta Party won 325 out of 403 seats in UP and Yogi Adityanath was named the new Chief Minister. Also Watch: It is noteworthy that BJP National president Amit Shah is planning to visit Ahmedabad on\u00a0March 29\u00a0and hence may be finalising the list of campaigners along with taking stock of how preparations are going in different regions. BJP has its hold in Saurashtra and Kutch, but its plan to spread and gain 40 more seats. In the light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, it is important that BJP meet their set targets. PM Modi recently visited Gujarat where he has reportedly held talks with CM Vijay Rupani setting directives for the party for election preparations.
