Gujarat: Full list of ministers and their portfolios in Bhupendra Patel cabinet

Full List of Ministers in Bhupendra Patel Government 2022: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel kept to himself the portfolios of Home, General Administration, Revenue, Disaster Management, Urban Development and Urban Housing, Pilgrimage Development, Panchayat, Science and Technology, Roads and Building, Narmada, Ports and Information and Broadcasting.

Gujarat Assembly 2022 Minister List: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bhupendra Patel on Monday took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for a second straight term in Gandhinagar. Patel, 60, was administered the oath as the 18th Chief Minister by Governor Acharya Devvrat at the Helipad Ground near the new Secretariat in Gandhinagar. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, members of the Union Cabinet and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states.

Along with Patel, a 16-member Council of Ministers, which includes one woman, was also sworn-in on Monday. The new ministerial team has representation from Patidar, Koli, tribal and Dalit communities, and new entrants include 11 former ministers.

The BJP made history by grabbing 156 seats in the 182-member Assembly in the elections which were held in two phases on December 1 and 8, and results were announced on December 8.

Following the oath-taking ceremony, in the evening at around 6:30 PM, CM Patel presided over the first meeting of the new Cabinet, and allocated portfolios to the ministers.

-CM Bhupendra Patel – Home, General Administration, Revenue, Disaster Management, Urban Development and Urban Housing, Pilgrimage Development, Panchayat, Science and Technology, Roads and Building, Narmada, Ports and Information and Broadcasting.

-Kanubhai Desai – Cabinet minister Kanubhai Desai has been allocated the Finance, Energy and Petrochemicals departments.

-Bhauben Babariya – Only woman cabinet member Bhauben Babariya has been allocated Social Justice and Empowerment, Women and child development portfolios.

-Rushikesh Patel – Cabinet minister Rushikesh Patel has been given health, higher and technical education, law and parliamentary and legislative affairs portfolios.

-Raghavji Patel – A cabinet minister, Raghavji Patel has been allocated the Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Housing and Rural Development departments.

-Balwantsinh Rajput – Cabinet minister Balwantsinh Rajput has been handed the Industries, Labour and Employment, MSME (Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), Cottage Industry and Civil Aviation.

-Kunvarji Bavaliya – Cabinet minister Kunvarji Bavaliya has been given Water Resources and Water Supply and Food and Civil Supply departments.

-Mulubhai Bera – The cabinet minister has been allocated Tourism, Cultural Activities, Forest and Environment departments.

-Kuber Dindor – He will handle Tribal Development as well as Primary and Secondary Education portfolios as a cabinet minister.

-Harsh Sanghavi – He has been allocated the portfolios of Home, Police Housing, Industry and Cultural Activities as a Minister of State (MoS), along with Sports and Youth Service, NRG (Non Resident Gujaratis) department, Prisons, Border Security and Transport portfolios as MoS with independent charge.

-Jagdish Vishwakarma – Minister of State Jagdish Vishwakarma has been given independent charge of Cooperation, Salt Industry and Protocol departments, along with MSME, Cottage Industry, Khadi and Village Industry and Civil Aviation in the capacity of a junior minister.

-Parshottam Solanki – He has been allocated Fisheries and Animal Husbandry as a Minister of State.

-Bachubhai Khabad – He has been made MoS for Panchayat and Agriculture departments.

-Mukesh Patel – He has been given the charge of Forest and Environment, Climate Change, Water Resources and Water Supply departments as a junior minister.

-Praful Pansheriya – He has been given the charge of Parliamentary and Legislative Affairs as well as Education portfolio as a junior minister.

-Bhikhusinh Parmar – He has been appoibnted a junior minister for Food and Civil Supply as well as Social Justice and Empowerment

-Kunvarji Halpati – He will handle Tribal Development, Labour and Employment and Rural Development as an MoS.

Meanwhile, several ruling party MLAs like Hardik Patel, Apesh Thakor, Rivaba Jadeja were not given any portfolios, however, they can hope for portfolios in a future cabinet expansion. Former CM and senior BJP leader Vijay Rupani said that the cabinet will be expanded later. According to norms, Gujarat, which has a 182-member Assembly, can have a maximum of 27 ministers, or 15 per cent of total strength of the House.

Currently, it has a 17-member Council of Ministers, including the CM.
