Gujarat Election Live: Gujarat, which is all set to see a triangular electoral contest between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Opposition Congress, and debutant Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is witnessing an intense election campaign with party heavyweights appealing to the electorate to cast their votes in favour of their respective parties. Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda held four rallies each in Gujarat on Tuesday. Shah held one rally in Anand, two in Banaskantha, and another in Ahmedabad. The polling for the 182-Gujarat Assembly seats will be held in two phases – December 1 and 5, and the counting of votes will be taken up on December 8.

Congress did everything possible to “insult” Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and it has started praising him only now in view of the Gujarat Assembly elections. Even the last rites of the country's first deputy prime minister were performed in “unceremonious” way: Shah in Khambhat in Anand district. (PTI)
As many as 788 candidates are in the fray for 89 seats that will go to the polls in the first phase of elections.
For the 93 seats where elections would be held in the second phase, there are 833 candidates in the fray, said a release from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer.
The last day of withdrawal for the second phase was Monday.
A total of 1,621 candidates are left in the fray for the next month's Gujarat Assembly elections after the deadline for the withdrawal of nominations got over. (PTI)

Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Maharashtra deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis will address three rallies each today.
BJP to organise a second outreach programme in Gujarat with 93 election rallies in 93 Assembly seats on Tuesday. On November 18, the party had organised 89 such rallies across 89 Assembly seats.

On Monday, the state saw three rallies by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, two by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and a roadshow by AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal. While addressing a poll rally in Bharuch, PM Modi on Monday took a swipe at Congress saying its leaders remained oblivious to tribals for a very long time even though tribals have been living in the country since the days of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi on Monday addressed his first election rally in Gujarat’s Surat.
