In another attack on Indian security forces in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday afternoon, militants hurled a grenade leading to the death of a civilian while one CRPF jawan was also reported injured. This incident took place in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir when a grenade was hurled at the security forces deployed on law and order duty at Murran chowk in the district, 31 km from Srinagar. The news was confirmed by the local police.
The CRPF jawan who was injured in the incident has been identified as Constable Daljit Kiran while the civilian who was reported dead has been identified as Mohammad Ayoub Wani. Security forces have been put on an alert and a manhunt has been launched for the militants in the surrounding area according to the local police.

Last month, security forces were involved in an encounter with terrorists at Yaripora of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam. The encounter took place outside a house where terrorists were hiding. Back then, four militants were killed during the gunbattle while two army jawans martyred. The Minister of State, Jitendra Singh condemned the attack and said that it is no longer a secret that Pakistan is sponsoring terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. “No longer a secret that entire terrorism on Indian soil, particularly in J&K is sponsored by Islamabad. The entire world is coming round to the viewpoint of Modi govt that Pakistan must contain export of terrorism from its soil,” he said.
Earlier, in a major crackdown on terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, one Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was killed in an encounter with police and security forces in Bandipore district. In a joint operation state police and security forces managed to neutralise the LeT commander Abu Musa. The slain terrorist was the nephew of 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.
