Punjab and Goa are all set to go for elections today. Heavy security arrangements have been made for “smooth and peaceful elections” in the two states.
Punjab and Goa will hold the Assembly polls on 117 seats today. Heavy security arrangements have been made for “smooth and peaceful elections”. People in large numbers are expected to come out to cast their votes. New entrant AAP is debuting in Assembly elections in Punjab and Goa. In Punjab, BJP-SAD alliance which has been in power for the past 10 years is facing strong contest from Congress and AAP. Punjab elections would also decide the fate of long term CM Parkash Singh Badal, Amrindar Singh and Sukhbir Badal. In Goa, Manohar Parrikar as the face of BJP fighting against Goa Forward Party, AAP, Shiv Sena and Congress.

08:00 PM: Voting at polling station No. 8 at Margao constituency (South Goa) was cancelled due to faulty procedure. Re-polling has been recommended for tomorrow, but the Election Commission will the take final decision soon, reported ANI.
05: 15 PM: Despite some roadblocks, polling in Punjab ends on a peaceful note. People who have reported to the booth up to 5 pm will be allowed to cast their votes now, reported ANI.
