Goa Nightclub Fire News LIVE: The death toll from the Goa nightclub fire has risen to 25, including four tourists and 14 staff members. The fire started around midnight at the Birch by Romeo Lane club in Arpora, North Goa.

Eyewitnesses told PTI that the fire began on the dance floor, where about 100 people were present. Many tried to escape by running downstairs but got trapped in the kitchen area. Early reports suggest that a cylinder blast may have caused the fire and that the nightclub didn’t follow the fire safety norms.

PM Modi expressed condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy and has announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh. He also spoke to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and took stock of the situation. CM Sawant has directed authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

“The fire mishap in Arpora, Goa, is deeply saddening. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones,” PM Modi wrote on X (formerly Twitter), before adding, “May the injured recover at the earliest.”

He added, “Spoke to Goa CM Dr Pramod Sawant about the situation. The State Government is providing all possible assistance to those affected.”
