Comedy group AIB has returned with another online video ‘The Demonetisation Circus’ highlighting the situation in the country post demonetisation announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8. But unlike past, the video did not seem to rope in vile jokes, rather it featured the prevailing circumstances in the country that glued the eyes on the screen. Besides ridiculous comments of the people in support or against the note-ban, it sketched how people can be selfish when it comes to mop-up their old currency notes or to get the new ones with leaving behind an important question i.e., where is humanity?
In the seven-minute, 59-second video, AIB showed how a rich man gave five months salary to his servant soon after demonetisation. It led to massive suffering to the servant including unacceptance of banknotes, problems in queues of banks, unavailability of change os Rs 2,000 notes among others. The man finally died in a bank while the people kept rushing to withdraw cash.
It also made a subtle target on PM Modi by showing how people are trusting him blindly while he continuously seeking more time to settle inconvenience of people. The video featured PM Modi’s baritone on radio where he continuously asking the Indian citizens for some more time to stabilize situation after demonetisation.
The video was uploaded on Sunday and has received 2,55,161 views and counting.
