Dear Oommen Chandy,
I read two of your posts that were addressed to me. Your last post raised specific political questions. Therefore, I will address that first in this reply. From the way you speak now, it seems that you have conveniently forgotten all the moves you made to oust your own senior Party Member and Leader- a former Kerala CM – Sri K Karunakaran.
Palm Olein Scam
You have recently stated that you came out in support of the former Kerala CM in March 1992, when I raised the issue of the Palm Olein scam in the State assembly proceedings against Sri K Karunakaran.
I cannot help recalling the events that played out on that day. As Finance Minister at the time, you were thoroughly enjoying all the allegations I had raised against the CM and you kept silent throughout. Not just you – every Congress man in the Congress (I) group including the MLAs did the same. I have checked the records of the Sabha proceedings of the day carefully. Your silence and that of your group members is loud and clearly indicated in these records. And yet you are able to utter such blatant lies now!
ISRO Spy Case
In the ISRO spy case, you have stated that you did not play any part in having Shri K Karunakaran ousted and you challenged that there is no evidence or document to support such a claim.
The following day after your statement, you appeared on Asianet News and stated that the Kerala CM K Karunakaran has lost the trust of the people and that he should resign. The channel played out your statement several times that day. Despite all this, you have the audacity to come out again and again with a challenge, “Where is the “rekha”? (Rekha means evidence, record or document) You don’t have a memory problem. Your problem is that you have utter contempt for the people of Kerala. You truly believe the people of Kerala are donkeys. The people of this state will give you a befitting reply in the upcoming elections. Now let me answer your specific questions.
I made my stand on this in the concerned court very clearly. I fully accept the court’s judgment. Unless and until a higher court comes up overruling the same, my stand on this remains the same.
R Balakrishna Pillai case
I have taken several legal measures against all those corrupt persons who abused positions of power. It is only in R Balakrishna Pillai’s case that I was legally successful in having him jailed as per law. R. Balakrishna Pillai has not been a part of the LDF coalition. This stance remains and has not changed.
Differences with Pinarayi Vijayan
I have not spoken against Pinarayi Vijayan. He is a senior party leader who represents the party that I am a part of. Differences in opinions are openly discussed in our party. Debates are a part of our Communist party proceedings. That is an internal aspect of how the Communist party functions and this is not to be dragged into the election debates. Of course, the tendency to do so has always been prevalent in the Congress party.
Assassination of TP Chandrashekhar
There is no change in my stance on this matter. I condemn what has happened. Whoever is responsible for it has to be found and made subject to the legal proceedings. However, I will not stand by or support the UDFs political game of horse trading in this matter. You will not have my support on such things.
You are a leader who is ready to tolerate any insult or shame so that you can stay in power – this is a fact that you have openly declared as a Chief Minister. World over, there can be no other leader in power who has so openly made his political stance as clear as you have.
Your shamelessness is what drove the likes of Salim and Solar Saritha to walk in and out of the Kerala CM’s office and official residence at all hours.
