Celebration times turned into a nightmare for a family in Madhya Pradesh when a parcel bomb led to the death of a doctor and injured his uncle and the family’s servant. Dr Ritesh Dixit (30) who was to get engaged on Sunday (January 28) succumbed to his injuries when a parcel bomb fitted inside an FM radio exploded on Thursday (January 25) after which he was referred to Bhopal for advanced treatment where he died on Sunday morning. The accused, Hemant alias Ashish Sahu (25), a high school pass out from Sagar had allegedly prepared the parcel bomb after scouring Google and rigged it inside an FM radio to take revenge on KK Dixit, who is principal superintendent at the main post office in Sagar and the father of Ritesh. As per a report by The Hindustan Times, the bomb was meant for the father. Reportedly, Dixit had instituted an inquiry against Ashish who was working as a temporary employee in the postal department a few years ago and had filed an FIR against him and a few others for an alleged fraud of Rs 38 lakh.

The report quotes a friend of Dr Ritesh saying that the doctor who was posted at Sagar district hospital was to get engaged to a dental surgeon from Gwalior on Sunday. As per the report, when the parcel reached home, father KK Dixit was on the third floor and his son Ritesh with two others were on the second floor. Ritesh opened the parcel and found an FM radio. When he connected it to a plug point, it exploded. On investigating the incident, police found that the parcel was sent from Sagar’s Namak Mandi post office on January 23. A thorough probe that included scrutinizing CCTV footages from nearby government and private buildings led them to zero in on Rajesh Patel and Moolchand Lohar who had sent the parcel from the post office to KK Dixit. Both are friends of Ashish Sahu. The two have confessed that Ashish, a resident of Singhna village in Sagar had prepared the parcel and had given it to them to post it.

Following his arrest on January 26, Ashish revealed to the officials that he carried out the parcel bomb attack in revenge against Dixit who had ordered an inquiry against him in the alleged fraud. An FIR had been lodged and about Rs 3.5 lakh have been seized from Ashish.
