In a first, BJP’s next state executive meeting will be held in Srinagar. Speaking to ANI, MoS PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that it’s a milestone. This is yet another breakthrough step by the Centre after the appointment of an interlocutor for Kashmir. A few days ago, Former IB chief, Dineshwar Sharma, was appointed as the interlocutor in order to bring peace in the region. Centre’s initiative to appoint an interlocutor was a step to start a sustainable dialogue with stakeholders and prompt towards the restoration of peace in the state.
After being appointed as the interlocutor, Dineshwar Sharma had said, “Hope I will be able to live up to the trust government of India has shown and will be able to fulfil expectations of people.” He further said, “Priority is restoring peace (in J&K) and finding a permanent solution.” Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, had also appreciated Center’s move. In her one of her tweets, she had said, Welcome initiative of Union Govt, appointing interlocutor for leading a sustained dialogue with stakeholders in J&K.”
Applauding Sharma for his credibility and previous works, Mufti said, “He is a very good person and has huge credibility, has been involved in dialogues in North East also. It is a good start and the need of the time, I welcome this step.”“People are caught between so many guns right now and they want to come out of. It is a good initiative and should be a success.” However, BJP- PDP alliance had been drawing a lot of criticism ever since it came to power.
