Father A Jayseelan of Siphir Parish would represent the Catholc Church in Mizoram in the canonisation ceremony of Mother Teresa in the Vatican on Sunday, sources in the Catholic Church’s Aizawl Diocese today said.
The decision was recently made in the meeting of the church leaders chaired by the Bishop of Aizawl Diocese Most Reverend Stephen Rotluanga.
Meanwhile, some families belonging to the Catholic Church were privately travelling to the Vatican to attend the ceremony.
A number of Mizo women has joined the Sisters of Charity, the Congregation headed by the late Mother, the Aizawl Diocese sources added.
Though Mizoram is dominated by the Presbyterian and Baptist churches, there are a sizeable number of Catholics in the state and their church has been running some of the best educational institutions in the state.
