Earthquake in Assam, Meghalaya: 4.0 magnitude quake hits North East India; epicentre in East Khasi Hills

Earthquake in Assam, Meghalaya: A medium intensity earthquake 4.0 in magnitude on the Richter scale hit Assam and Meghalaya this afternoon. According to the India Meteorological Department's website, the earthquake struck the north-East region of India at 3:13 PM.

Earthquake in Assam, Meghalaya: A medium intensity earthquake 4.0 in magnitude on the Richter scale hit Assam and Meghalaya today during the afternoon. According to the India Meteorological Department’s website, the earthquake struck the north-East region of India  at 3:13 PM.

The epicentre was at East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya at a depth of 10 km from the ground.

No immediate report of any damage to property or injury to people has been received.

Earthquake had hit Assam last night too, which measured 3.0 in magnitude on the Richter Scale.
