Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi today hailed party’s student wing NSUI’s comeback performance in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections by grabbing the two major posts of president and the vice president. Taking to to Twitter, the Congress vice president also thanked Delhi University students for reposing faith in party’s ideology.
“Congratulations @nsui on a stellar performance & Pres win in DUSU! Thank students of DU for reposing faith in Congress ideology,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted.
Earlier in the day, NSUI and ABVP shared honours in the students’ body election by sharing two seats each. While the NSUI bagged president and vice president, the BJP’s student won the remaining secretary and general secretary posts.
For NSUI, Rocky Tuseed and Kunal Sehrawat won president and vice president elections. While Rocky bagged 16,299 votes to grab the top post, Sehrawat secured his seat by garnering 16,431 votes. On the other hand, ABVP’S Mahamedha won her seat by grabbing 17,156 votes to win the secretary post even as her party colleague Uma Shankar got 16,691 votes to win Joint-Secretary post for the BJP’S students wing, Indian Express said.
Apart from Rahul Gandhi, several other Congress leaders also hailed NSUI’S performance in students’ body elections. Taking to Twitter, senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said, ” Congratulations @nsui on an outstanding performance in #DUSUelection2017. A triumph for liberal values on campus.”
Another senior leader Ahmed Patel, who recently won Rajya Sabha seat from Gujarat said, ” Many congratulations to the @nsui President & his team for the terrific performance in the DUSU elections”.
