Taking a fresh jibe at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congess leader Digvijay Singh today slammed the PM, comparing him with newly elected President of United States, Donald Trump. Over a post in the micro-blogging website Twitter, Digvijay stated that the US President at least has the courage to face the media, unlike PM Modi. Over a series of tweet, the former Union Minister further hit out at Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and said that while the FM claims of no currency shortage, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor speaks differently.
Yesterday, Digvijay targetted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over their campaigning, ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls. The Congress general secretary claimed that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has stopped considering Narendra Modi as a ‘marketable face’, post demonetisation. Digvijay further claimed that the feud between Shiv Sena and BJP was not about ideology but about ‘sharing the loot’ of 20 years of dominance in the civic polls.
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, yesterday, Digvijay slammed the Prime Minister over the implementation of the demonetisation policy and claimed that the ban on currency notes has affected trade and industry, while 15-20 lakh people became jobless. He further claimed that fake currency was deposited in the banks post demonetisation and has become legal tender now.
On 26th January, Uddhav Thackeray announced that the party will not go for an alliance with the BJP in the upcoming civic polls. Ruling out the possibility of a pre-poll pact with BJP, he further alleged that the saffron has hired ‘gundas’ (goons) in the party as they can’t fight against the Shiv Sena ‘sainiks’. Thackeray further asserted that they will win the civic polls easily. He stated that the party has wasted 25 years because of alliance with other parties, in the 50 years of Sena.
