In a setback for the actor, Dileep’s fourth bail application has been rejected by the court. This morning, the actor’s bail plea had come up for hearing at the Angamaly magistrate court. What is notable in today’s hearing is that the prosecution seems to have stepped up its evidence and brought the court’s attention to some startling facts that were not brought to the public domain before.
The prosecution revealed that the actor had called up actress Remya Nambeesan on her landline phone at 10 PM on the day when her close friend had been attacked in a car. The prosecution also expressed doubts over the actual intention of the actor by calling up her best friend on the very same day.
Given the number of celebrities who have been visiting Dileep since Onam, the prosecution reiterated its contention that the actor is influential and he should not be given bail. Actor-turned-politician Ganesh Kumar and actress KPAC Lalitha were among the many well-known celebrities who visited Dileep in jail. The prosecution relied on these names to establish Dileep’s clout and influential standing in the society.
Further, the prosecution also stated before the court that the actor had phone conversations with several people on the same day till 12.30 AM.
Responding to these submissions, the defendant’s counsel informed the court that there is nothing strange about this as the calls were made after the actor heard the news relating to the attack on the Malayalam actress.
Actor Dileep had moved the Kerala High Court twice for bail and his application was rejected both times. Now the Angamaly court has also rejected his bail plea twice.
