Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today rebuffed Thane City Police on Twitter for not giving proper reply to a complaint about traffic jams in Ghodbunder area.
Giving Thane Police a lesson on how to handle and respond to the complaints made on Twitter, Fadnavis posted, “@ThaneCityPolice Your reply should be ‘It is under Thane Rural Police jurisdiction and “we will inform them”.’ @DpsS9 @CPMumbaiPolice.”
What actually caused the Maharashtra CM to intervene in the matter was the massive traffic snarl on the road leading to Fountain Hotel from Ghodbunder this evening about which an irate citizen who was trapped in the traffic jam had tweeted his complaint by tagging the Thane City Police and the CM: “@ThaneCityPolice @CPMumbaiPolice @Dev_Fadnavis Heavy traffic jam at gohdbunder way to Fountain Hotel.”
Since the area did not fall under the jurisdiction of Thane Police, they directed the man to take his complaint to Thane Rural Police: @DpsS9 @CPMumbaiPolice @Dev_Fadnavis Jurisdiction of Thane rural police. kindly intimate them,” tweeted Thane City Police.
The Thane City Police defended their tweet while replying to CM’s tweet: “@Dev_Fadnavis @DpsS9 Sir, as a protocol, we always call & inform the concerned authority irrespective of the jurisdiction & it was done 1/2.”
“@Dev_Fadnavis @DpsS9 2/2 in this case too. However you have rightly pointed out that the complainant should be told that too. Thank you sir.”
This has gone down very well with the Twitteratti who gave a big thumbs up to the CM. Fadnavis’ effort got him over 400 retweets and over 250 likes. And that was not the end. Here are a couple of these tweets:
“@Dev_Fadnavis @ThaneCityPolice @DpsS9 @CPMumbaiPolice Brilliant, when Politicians make the best and appropriate use of twitter.”
“@Dev_Fadnavis @ThaneCityPolice @DpsS9 @CPMumbaiPolice superb reply Mr.CM!! Thank you! This will definitely help bring in more accountability!”
