Dense fog grips Delhi-NCR; flights affected, 75 trains delayed

While the road traffic was worst affected, as the vehicles were seen literally snarling with fog lights and indicators turned on.

Dense fog continued to shroud the national capital in morning hours of Sunday, disrupting rail, road and air traffic. Due to the low visibility conditions, 75 trains were reported to be running late whereas, 4 were cancelled and 28 others were rescheduled, as per a report by ANI. Several trains are running late from the Nizamuddin Railway Station, while others which are reported rescheduled/cancelled are from New Delhi and Old Delhi railway stations.

Air Traffic was also reported to be affected this morning, with atleast 1 international and 2 domestic flights reported to be delayed. While the road traffic was worst affected, as the vehicles were seen literally snarling with fog lights and indicators turned on.

Skymet chief, Mahesh Palawat, had earlier informed that dense fog will persist for next 2-3 days across northern India. “The sky will remain clear in the day with dense to very dense fog in the morning,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) had on Tuesday announced that it’s prepared for tackling the fog season at the India Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). The authority had also ensured continuity of flight operations during the low visibility period during winter.
