Demonetisation: Even after more than a month of demonetisation, ATM queues are nowhere seen getting shorter. People across the nation, especially in metropolis and adjoining areas are still struggling to lay hands on cash. In order to lessen the bitterness left by the demonetisation exercise, the Delhi BJP has announced its plans to reward people by giving them a laddu – one per family. This is an initiative taken so as to ‘thank’ people for their patience.
Manoj Tiwari, the newly appointed BJP chief, confirmed the initiative by saying that PM Modi has launched this revolutionary step to tackle black money. Despite facing some inconvenience, people supported the move. And now the party in return want to thank them and show appreciation and respect for their patience. He also added, “We will encourage our workers to reach out to people. Logon ka dhanywaad karna to banta hai (We should express our gratitude). If people can stand in queues and not complain, can’t we give them a laddoo as a token of our appreciation.” He said the cadres have been told to knock on every door, from January 1 to January 10, to distribute sweets in their areas.

Previously the Aam Admi Party on their part also stepped forward to help those hit by demonetisation. Food kiosks were set up at around 10 different places in Delhi. As well as some previous reports also suggested that some individuals and organisations volunteered to distribute water, tea and food to those waiting in long bank and ATM queues.
