Delhi Metro has now made available the check-in facility for IGI Airport-bound passengers at the Shivaji Stadium Metro station.
Delhi Metro has now made available the check-in facility for IGI Airport-bound passengers at the Shivaji Stadium Metro station. DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) has said that this will facilitate IGI Airport bound passengers travelling on the Airport Express Line.
The check-in facility will be available from July 1, 2016. At present, city-check-in was available for Air India only at New Delhi station of the Airport Express Line for domestic sector and few gulf countries.
Now, passengers of Air India and Jet Airways will be able to do city check- in for domestic and international flights from both the New Delhi as well as Shivaji Stadium station of the Airport Express Line.
“Flight passengers of Air India and Jet Airways can check in their baggage from these two Metro stations from 2 hours to 12 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight,” DMRC said. “The flight check-in facility from the stations would close two hours prior to the departure time,” it added.
The airport passengers can obtain their boarding pass at the city check-in counter and check-in the luggage as well. The checked-in baggage will be transferred to IGI Airport’s Terminal-3, through a secured Baggage Handling System (BHS). Free luggage trolleys are also available for passengers at the entry gates and platforms at all Metro stations of the Airport Express Line, DMRC added.
Cheering the move, Urban Development minister M Venkaiah Naidu tweeted, “Happy that soon Airindia and Jet passengers can check in at Shavaji Park Metro Station in addition to New Delhi stn on Airport express line. Had earlier taken up the issue with DMRC and Civil Aviation.”
