Two women were killed and three others, including two small children, were injured after a car coming from the Ghaziabad side collided with a container truck near the MCD toll plaza in east Delhi’s Ghazipur area on Thursday morning, as police said. The crash took place around 6:43 am near the toll booths in front of the Vinod Nagar Depot on NH-9. “At about 06:43 am, a PCR call was received related to a fatal accident near MCD Toll, NH-9, in front of Vinod Nagar Depot, Delhi,” as quoted by ANI.

Two women died on the spot

The two women occupants who died were identified as Deepanjali (38) and Neelam Garg (55). An officer stated to PTI, “On reaching the incident spot, the team found two women occupants of the car unresponsive…One woman was found lying outside the vehicle, while the other was strapped in the front left passenger seat. Both were declared on the spot.”

The injured were identified as the car’s driver, Deepanshu Garg and two minor children, Vivan (5) and Vashu (3), who were taken to Max Hospital for treatment. “The driver of the car, Deepanshu Garg, along with two minor children, suffered injuries and was sent to the Max Hospital for medical treatment.” A police officer also stated to PTI that their condition is being monitored.

Rescue response and what happened at the incident spot

Rajvir Singh Baghel, Station Officer of the Laxmi Nagar Fire Station, told ANI, “We got the  a call about the accident near Ghazipur MCD Toll at 7:05 am. We reached the spot and pulled out two people from the car.” He further added, “Before we reached here, three people, including two kids and a driver, were sent to the hospital…A total of five people were present in the car when the accident happened.”

Probe underway

As per Delhi Police, “further probe into the matter is in progress.” The fire officer told the ANI that “the truck driver has fled the scene.” The police are also looking for the container truck involved in the crash as per of the investigation.
