A district court in Delhi on Monday sent the city’s Law Minister Jitendra Singh Tomar to four-day’s police custody after being arrested in connection with the alleged fake degree case.
According to reports, the court also directed the Delhi Police to procure the necessary documents during this time-frame.
Further details are awaited.
Tomar was arrested by Delhi Police this morning and taken to the Hauz Khas police station in connection with a fake degree row. He had been facing allegations of submitting forged education certificates while filing his nomination for the Delhi Assembly polls.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged that Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, the Delhi Police and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre were trying to ‘scare’ the city’s government by using court cases and arrests.
“Was this arrest made to create pressure? The LG, the Delhi Police and the Prime Minister Modi-led government are trying to scare us by court cases and jail,” AAP leader Sanjay Singh had said.
