In a horrific incident, which took place in the National Capital Delhi, an eight-month-old baby-girl was raped by his 28-year-old cousin brother. The eight-month-old girl was raped by her relative, Suraj, when she was alone in her home in northwest Delhi’s Shakurbasti locality on Sunday. Reportedly, the girl’s parents, both working, had left her at their relatives’ house. The accused, on finding that his mother is not around, allegedly forced himself on the baby. When the girl’s mother, who works as a maid, returned home at around 12.30 pm, she found the baby unconscious and bleeding from her private parts. She informed her husband, who works as a labourer, about the incident, according to a PTI report. The girl child was rushed to the Kalawati Saran Hospital where the doctors found that she had been sexually assaulted. According to media reports, the baby suffered severe injuries to her vital organs and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
During the investigation, Suraj turned out to be the prime suspect. After he was questioned, he fled from home. Police said this confirmed the doubt of his involvement in the crime. He was later traced and rounded up by the police, after which he confessed his crime during the interrogation. Police said, as per an IANS report, the accused, a cousin of the child, took her to the other part of the building on the pretext of playing with her, where he committed the horrific crime. As per the report, the victim lives with her family on the first floor while other family members live on the ground floor. A case has been registered against Suraj under the provisions of POSCO act.
The doctors at the Kalawati Saran Hospital later performed a three-hour-long operation on the girl. The girl child is still believed to be battling for her life.
