Delhi gets ready for Jat agitation, services likely to get disrupted

With Jat agitations likely to begin tomorrow at Delhi’s jantar Mantar, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to suspend its train services to and from National Capital Region (NCR) from 11:30 pm tonight. Metro services, under the order of the Delhi Police, will not be vailable to metro stations outside the national capital Guru Dronacharya to Huda City Centre (line 2), Kaushambi -Vaishali and Noida Sector-15 -Noida City Center (line 3 and 4) and Sarai-Escotrs Mujesar (line 6) from today night till further orders.

The facility to change metros, will however be available at all interchange stations. Services at all these stations will restart afterDelhi Police gives green signal. Last week, Jat protestors had announced their plan to take their stir to national capital, after their demand for reservations went unanswered.

Last Wednesday, the discussion on Jat agitation was held in the Haryana Assembly. During the discussion, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Singh Chautala said both BJP and the Congress were trying to play politics on the issue.

He also said that the BJP government in the state was not able to to implement Jats demands even after giving green signal in 2016. The Jats, apart from reservation, also have other demands like jobs to of kin of those killed during the violence last year, compensation to those injured, withdrawal of cases among some others. Last year in February, as many as 30 lives were lost and 200 were injured in Haryana during violence. At the time, property worth crores of rupees were damaged.
