A 23-year-old photographer was allegedly killed by the family members of his girlfriend in West Delhi on Friday night. The police said the young man was stabbed to death near his house after an argument with family members of his significant other. As per a report by The Indian Express, while the woman waited for the victim, outside a metro station Thursday, her kinfolk confronted the 23-year-old suspecting he had abducted her. Vijay Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) said the altercation was over “alleged relationship with a 20-year-old woman from the minority community.”

As per the police, the woman’s parents, her uncle and brother were against the relationship and confronted the victim on Thursday and warned him to stay away from the woman. The quarrel turned into a physical confrontation during which the victim’s family was assaulted. Police said the woman’s father had slit the boy’s throat with a knife and fled.

At every corner, BSF personnel were posted at strategic pickets near the house of the woman’s family, the funeral site and around the victim’s house. Following the murder on Thursday, local residents had nabbed woman’s uncle, while her father and brother are still at large.

The 23-year-old was a professional photographer and also worked as a part-time sales marketing officer in the locality. The police said it all began on Thursday at around 8 pm when he returned home after an errand. His girlfriend’s kinfolk had waited outside a school near his house. “I heard a commotion… I went outside and found that they (the woman’s family) had surrounded my son and were assaulting him. I called my husband and we rushed to his aid,” said the victim’s mother.

The victim’s mother alleged that woman’s family had thrown blows on her chest and used abusive language. “My husband is a heart patient and was in shock. All we could do was plead with them. They kept asking me where their daughter was,” she said.

The boy’s family rushed him to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. During the interrogation, the woman’s family said that their daughter went missing around 7:45 pm on Thursday which made them think that the boy had abducted the woman. However, police said the woman was waiting for him at the Tagore Garden metro station.

She was informed by her friends that the victim was murdered after which she rushed to her house, but sources said her friends convinced her to go to the Khyala police station.
