Overall deal activity in Q1 2015 stood at $8.2 billion (350 deals) against $6.4 billion (257 deals) in Q1 2014.

Overall deal activity in Q1 2015 stood at $8.2 billion (350 deals) against $6.4 billion (257 deals) in Q1 2014. Private equity (PE) investments in Q1 2015 saw a 30% increase in deal value and 67% rise in deal volume from Q1 2014. The quarter saw four investments worth over $100 million each and eight worth over $50 million. Overall M&A deal value rose 26% over Q1 2014, driven largely by inbound activity.

Strategic deals during Q1 2015 included Harman International Industries-Symphony Teleca ($780 million), Alibaba Group-One97 Communications ($575 million). Key PE investments were TPG Capital’s investment in Manipal Health Enterprises ($150 million) and Equis Funds’ investment in Assetz Property ($116 million).
