In an unfortunate incident, a man was allegedly shot dead and two others seriously injured on Tuesday after a clash broke out between two groups in Amethi district. Ashfak, son of Ansar, was shot dead near a bank in the Jagdishpur market on the Lucknow-Varanasi national highway. Heavy police deployment was made and traders downed shutters as panic gripped the area after the shootout. Police officials said they suspected there was old enmity between the two parties involved. District Magistrate Shakuntla Gautam and Superintendent of Police K K Gehlot rushed to the spot after the incident, officials said.
Reportedly, security forces have been deployed at the spot where one was killed in Amethi.
This comes days after Kasganj violence.
Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath broke his silence on Kasganj communal clashes promising stringent action against culprits while the Centre sought a report from his government on the violence that left one dead and atleast two others grievously injured. “Our government is committed to providing security to each and every citizen. Anarchy has no place in the state,” Adityanath told mediapersons here. He said strict action would be taken against the perpetrators of violence and asserted that none of the guilty would be allowed to go scot free.
