Union Minister Satyapal Singh courted another controversy on Sunday claiming that Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution of man was ‘scientifically wrong’ and suggested that it needs to be changed in school in college curriculum across the nation. “Darwin’s theory (of evolution of humans) is scientifically wrong. It needs to change in school and college curriculum,” Satyapal Singh, the Minister of State for Human Resource Development said while speaking to reporters at Aurangabad. Union Minister Singh further remarked that our ancestors have nowhere mentioned that they witnessed an ape turning into a man. Asserting his theory he said that since man has been living on earth forever and man has seen the only man, he has always been a man. The IPS-turned politician was attending the ‘All India Vaidik Sammelan’ in the central city of Maharashtra when he made this comment.
It is not the first time that he has made a controversial comment, Satyapal Singh, who formerly held the post of Mumbai Police Commissioner, has earlier been in news for commenting that how many boys shall be willing to marry a girl who goes to her wedding in jeans. The minister was speaking at a function in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur attended by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “Koi aadmi agar kehne lage ki main jeans pehenke kisi mandir ka mahant ban jaaunga to log pasand karenge kya? Koi pasand nahi karega. Ya koi ladki jeans pehenkar ke shaadi ke bedi pe jaayegi toh kitne ladke usse shaadi karna chahenge?” The comment was meant that ‘ no saint will be revered if he gives up his traditional attire.”
