The man accused of attacking the Dallas Police headquarters with guns and explosives had ‘snapped’ under personal pressure, his father said.

He said that his son had ‘snapped’ after he was unable to get a job and was also let down by the legal system as he failed to get the custody of his son, but added that shooting a police station was not right in anyway, reported the BBC.

His mother, Jeannine Hammond, said that her son was mentally sick and had faced several charges, including attacking the family members.

The attacker had identified himself to authorities as James Boulware.

However, his identity is yet to be officially confirmed.

He was shot dead following a gunfight with the police.
