Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Biman Bose on Saturday lashed out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for accompanying Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his Bangladesh visit, calling it “traditional draamebaazi”.
“These are all the traditional ‘draamebaazi’ of our Chief Minister. Our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had come to an understanding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. And since she could not do this arrangement with (former prime minister) Dr. Manmohan Singh, she refused. In this drama of refusal, there are other stories that happened behind the back,” Bose told ANI here.
“She had agreed to accompany Dr. Manmohan Singh to Dhaka. All of a sudden, she informed the Prime Minister’s Office that she is not accompanying neither did she go separately. Even though she is accompanying Prime Minister Modi to Dhaka, she wanted to demarcate that she is not going to Dhaka with an arrangement with the BJP-led Government. To show that she travelled yesterday evening while Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Dhaka today morning,” he added.
In a historic milestone, India and Bangladesh exchanged the Instruments of Ratification of the Land Boundary Agreement today.
Foreign Secretaries of India and Bangladesh signed and exchanged the Instruments of Ratification in the presence of Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Sheikh Hasina.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was also present on the occasion.
