The brother of 'Nirbhaya', the physiotherapist killed in 2012 Delhi bus gangrape case, is all set to become a pilot - thanks to a virtual mentorship role made for his education by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Asha Devi, the mother of Nirbhaya, has revealed that Gandhi not only funded his higher education but made regular phone calls to motivate him. The boy was studying in 12th standard when his sister was killed, India Today reports. The brutal incident that took place with his sister sent him into shock. Asha revealed that it was Rahul Gandhi who counselled him and motivated him to achieve something good in life. The Congress vice president was the one who asked him to pursue a pilot's training course after completion of school, Asha said. Asha added that Rahul used to talk to him over the phone and taught him to adopt a 'never quit' attitude. The boy is now in his final stage of training with a commercial airline in Gurugram. She also revealed that even Priyanka Gandhi calls the boy at times and asks about family's health. Days ago, it was reported that the four convicts in the case - Akshay (31), Pawan (22), Vinay (23) and Mukesh (29) - who are presently lodged in Tihar jail, are now placed under suicide watch. Supreme Court had recently upheld the death sentence of all the four convicts. The fifth accused, Ram Singh hanged himself in prison on March 11, 2013, while a convicted juvenile was sentenced to three years of punishment in a reform home. Out of the four convicts, Vinay Sharma is lodged in jail number 4, while Akshay, Pawan and Mukesh have been lodged in jail number 2, Indian Express reported.
