Taking a swipe at PM Narendra Modi’s second television interview, Congress called his claims as a mere pravachan (sermons) which were far from the reality. Calling the Prime Minister’s interview yet another PR exercise, Congress leader Anand Sharma said that the interview was like a fixed match. Sharma added that if the Prime Minister was keen to speak about their achievements, he should have called a press conference and taken the questions directly from media persons.
Slamming the Prime Minister for misleading the country in his interview, Sharma said, “The Prime Minister has no understanding of the economy. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had left the economy in a strong condition. The average GDP growth rate was 8.5% during the 10 years of UPA. UPA had left a stable economy. Forex reserves were USD 300 billion. National income grew three-fold. Nearly 14 crore people came out of poverty”.
Sharma also claimed that in Gujarat, thousands of hectares of land were “sold for a song” and if land deals are probed, all the BJP chief Ministers would be in the dock. Besides, he alleged that there exists a “Dirty Tricks Department which is active, operate from the PMO. They are
targeting Leaders in the Opposition. We have said it in Parliament, we are saying it again”.
PM Modi in his interview said that his government has worked in all fairness, without showing any bias to any particular political party or individuals. Sharma, however, listed a few politician who in his opinion have been “booked for vague charges”. He also asserted that Prime Minister and his government is full of revenge and intolerance. Political vendetta is part of PM Modi’s DNA and in that of party and RSS, said Sharma.
“Government is using its machinery including CBI and ED to settle scores with the Congress,” said Sharma.
