With the NDA Government all set to complete three years in office, the Congress is planning to organise a series of 100 press conferences across the country in next one month.The party is planning to go district headquarters level to “expose the lie of the Modi Government”, a The Hindu report said. The report said that the press conference of the party would be “researched-based” and not like the “propaganda” of the Narendra Modi-led government.
While referring to recent raids by the Income-Tax department and CBI in premises of senior Congress leader P Chidambaram and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav over alleged corruption, Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi accused the government of “witch hunting,” a PTI report said.
He added that the CBI and Enforcement Directorate have initiated prosecution proceedings against nearly 34 political leaders under the NDA government, out of which 30 are from opposition parties.
Alleging that the government refrained from taking action against its own leaders in Vyapam and GSPL scams, the congress leader as quoted in news agency said, “It is carrying out opportunistic and selective investigations against opposition leaders. It is indulging in witch-hunting, and selective and opportunistic prosecution.”

Abhishek Singhvi went on to ask why the government did not take action against mining baron and former BJP minister G Janardhan Reddy who had allegedly spent nearly Rs 500 crore on his daughter’s wedding and Sahara-Birla papers. The Congress leader also wanted to know why the government did not take any action in Vyapam scam even after Supreme Court handing over the probe to CBI.
